Maxwell equations & wave propagation

Rigorous analysis of electromagnetic wave propagation in structured media, with particular emphasis on thin periodic geometries and effective interface laws.

Overview

I study how small-scale geometric structures influence electromagnetic waves at the macroscopic level. A central question is how thin arrays of inclusions or obstacles can be replaced, in an asymptotic limit, by effective transmission or interface conditions. This provides a rigorous route from microscopic geometry to phenomena such as transmission, reflection, and polarization selection.
