David Wiedemann
I am a postdoctoral researcher in applied mathematics at TU Dortmund University. My research focuses on partial differential equations, homogenization, electromagnetic wave propagation, and the calculus of variations.
Research
Research interests
My work lies at the interface of rigorous analysis, mathematical modelling, and multiscale methods.
Maxwell equations & wave propagation
Effective interface conditions for electromagnetic waves, thin periodic structures, polarization effects, and metasurface-type geometries.
Homogenization & multiscale media
Rigorous upscaling of PDEs in periodic and evolving microstructures, including porous media, transport processes, and fluid flow.
Calculus of variations
Polyconvexity, isotropic energy densities, nonlinear elasticity, and analytical and computational characterizations of constitutive models.
